Sex Ed Research Project (STD's and Contraceptives)I have attached my rubric, and two worksheets for my sex ed project. In our library, we have blank papers To help the students with MLA format - I have attached samples of those was well. I am sure there are a few things that need explaining, but I can't think of them now, so please email me or add comments if you have questions, or post your version of it! Thanks! It's nice to see actual sex related projects and work for a class it really shouldnt be a big deal but just about every district does worry about what goes on in sex ed and im sure parents do as well which is pretty sad since sex is all around us but compared to europe where topless girls promote/sell orange juice and escort agencies are all over the place if we could only be like that here and forget about any pressures having to do with sex i think it'd make for a better city
Hi Irene:
Several years ago a graduate student (Jean Benton) and I did a cross-age study on students' misconceptions of sexually transmitted diseases including ideas on etiology, signs/symptoms, transmission, prevention, and treatment. The study included responses from 8th and 10th graders, 1st year college and graduate students. I continue to use the questions in my introductory biology courses and sometimes students "get into" doing research on the topic. It serves as a neat introduction to the topic for students of almost any age.
I really like the activities you have in "my science box". Perhaps we can do some collaboration on students' science ideas.
Best,
Joel :)
